My fourth AP project, my teacher says this is my strongest composition yet.
The bottom is a little crooked becuase I took a picture of it, it's quite large
The project was to take a recent event and turn it into a poster using an art Noveau style. I choose to do a poster about the tragedy of Katrina (this was done before hurricane Rita hit as well). Obviously the greatest natural disaster the U.S.A. has ever expierenced, it reminds us that the U.S. isn't invincible. Here Katrina is shown as Justice, her scales tipped against New Orleans, what that specific imagery portays can be left to individual interpretation; nonetheless, she's portrayed as a powerful (and also blind, as you can see her pupils are solid white like Greek gods were often carved) force of nature.
Living in Florida, I know how horrible the damage of a hurricane can be. We were lucky we only caught this one when it was still category 1. I hate thinking how New Orleans wasn't as lucky..
I like the feel of this. It looks very authentic. I think the hair and hands are my favorite.
That is quite a wonderful piece. This piece does have an excellent composition, both with the contents within the image itself and the choice of colors. Well done. =3

How lovely. I love the style (especially Mucha's takes on the style) and it works well with the overall feel of the picture. Being one of the victims, I can really see the many meanings behind this piece. Very well done.

Wow. This is just an amazing image to personify the hurricane Katrina. I love the way the texture and composition add to the tone of the piece as well. I don't speak for the other New Orleanians, but if those were being sold I might buy one in a minute to put on my wall.

As always, you manage to capture every detail necessary to your artwork. That hurricane came dangerously close to several people near and dear to me, and I was so worried for everyone's sake during that vicious storm. By the way, I think you captured this style quite well, and I'm really impressed with the somewhat old-fashioned technique and texture presented.
bravo, you're one in a million, awa-chan!

Away with emotion, cut out the happiness, the sadness, let them fall with that single tear. They always end up causing pain anyways...
