I was actually thinking of using the "blinds as light" technique for Gene but then I remembered evil!Sam from the last episode of LoM, when he's looking through the shades all "your just figments" like and decided that was pretty hot. Oh and if you look at this pose and the Drake pinup and realize they're somewhat similar, yeah I think that just proves Tyler really is a girl.

Gaaaaaahhh.... I'm trying to think of how to list all the things I love about this. First, the light effect from the shade/blinds. Oh, sweet mother of light-effects. <3333333
Second, I still love his pose and his hands. <3333
Third, the lighting effect on his jacket. It's just... Guh, so much love.
Fourth, the lighter color for the line art in the background/bed/blanket/whatever. It makes Sam stand out more. <333
This comment will probably be quite incoherent and jumbled, just a warning!
The lighting coming from the blinds is just a work of beauty! It makes the image look really dynamic XD. Also, the colours are awesome... exactly the colours I associate with Sam- the burnt oranges and yellowy browns. The detailing on his shirt looks really good- in fact, all the clothing looks very true to life. There's so many tiny details (his untucked shirt, the writing on the paper), it makes me want to stare at it for ages.
Plus there's the fact that it's SAM.

The only thing I didn't include is his St. Christopher medal but that was based on compositional concerns, too much stuff around the face already.
